Google Business Profile Checklist for Estate Planning Firms

Before changing a profile, confirm that the information is accurate and that the firm understands the proposed edit. Keep a record of the current details and who will approve the work.

Eight Checks Before You Edit

The eight checks below cover the business facts, eligibility and access, and the approvals to confirm before changing anything. For each check, keep the evidence that supports the decision, so the firm can see what was verified, what was left unchanged, and who approved each edit.

CheckWhat to confirmEvidence to keep
Business detailsReal firm name, working phone number, correct address or applicable location details.Firm confirmation and website contact page.
Eligibility and accessThe business meets current profile requirements and the firm controls the account.Authorized owner/manager confirmation.
CategoriesThe main category describes the actual business and other categories genuinely apply.Current category record and firm approval.
Services and descriptionThe profile describes services the firm actually provides.Attorney-approved service information.
HoursRegular and special hours reflect when the firm operates.Firm confirmation and update record.
PhotosImages are accurate and approved for public use.Firm-supplied files and publication approval.
ReviewsThe request process follows current Google policy and replies protect confidential information.Approved request/reply process.
Website linkThe link opens the intended page and provides a useful next step on mobile.Destination URL and a dated route check.

Record the Proposed Change

Write down what is wrong, how you verified it, what you propose, and who approved it. A different phone number deserves investigation, while different punctuation around the same correct number may need little attention. This record lets the firm see why each edit was made and check it afterward.

A REAL EXAMPLE

Checking a profile before editing it

This is a real Month 1 report excerpt for 3:23 Special Protection, a Fort Worth service-area business and not a law firm. Several of the best decisions were to change nothing yet. The table shows each check, what I found, and the decision made, including why some items were deliberately left unchanged.

Real client work
CheckWhat I foundDecision
Business name and phoneReviewed against the websiteLeft unchanged
Primary categoryAlready matched the main serviceLeft unchanged on purpose. A change can trigger re-verification, and there was no evidence it would help.
AddressHidden, because the business travels to customersKept hidden. That is correct for a service-area business.
Service areasThe home city plus surrounding North Texas citiesReviewed and kept
Service wordingCould match the website landing page more closelyPrepared for Month 2 and held for client approval

Check the Website After the Profile

Open the profile’s website link on a phone. Can you identify the relevant service and reach the inquiry route? A complete profile still needs a useful destination, so check the page the link opens, the service information on it, and the route to a form or approved phone number.
